Referendum on Housing and Public Ownership of Water

Yesterday 13/10/22 Francis sought an update from the Tánaiste Leo Varadkar on the referendum on the housing, and on the public ownership of water.

Transcript

"Tánaiste, prior to and since the Programme for Government, much discourse and dialogue has taken place with respect to securing a referendum on the Right to Housing, and based on last weeks housing committee meeting, I believe wording is in progress within the Department. I feel I should also note Home for Good for their contribution to the debate and provision of legal clarity at the Housing Committee Session last year.

At the same time, I understand the Department is also working on wording for a referendum on the public ownership of water. Both Referendums are Green Party policy, and am sure other parties hold these policy positions.

With these in mind, I would be very grateful if the T/T/Minister could provide us with an update on the status of these referenda and if it has been considered that both referenda will take place at the same time and when these might take place."
